Shifting the paradigm one patient at a time

Change may happen slowly, but in the case of integrative medicine, Dr. Jared Skowron isn’t slowing down anytime soon. By changing lives one patient at a time, he pushes for the ultimate goal of widespread use.

The Interview

My name is Dr. Jared Skowron. My passion, my career, and my life’s purpose is bringing natural medicine to children. Change happens slowly, and I know part of my role as a naturopathic physician who specializes in pediatrics is to help change the mindset of my patients, my families and the other physicians and pediatricians that I work with. I know when I was in school 15 years ago, fish oil and probiotics were snake oil and weird and nobody would touch that. But now today, fish oil and probiotics are some great examples of natural medicines that are generally widely accepted by the conventional world. Medicines are medicines, and they’re here for everybody to use. So if our ultimate goal is healthier people, then if we can educate everyone, physicians, families alike that natural medicine is a better thing in general regardless of who is suggesting it, we’re making the change in the world, and that’s the ultimate goal, not who prescribes it but that more people are using it.
